Eishin Flash – another skilled Japanese to compete in the Dubai World Cup
The Hideaki Fujiwara trained Eishin Flash is all set to compete in the Dubai World Cup on 31st March at Meydan. He will be another talented Japanese runner competing for the prize along with Smart Falcon, hoping to follow the footsteps of last
year’s winner, Victoire Pisa.
The son of King’s Best, out of Moonlady, has exhibited immense potential from an early age.
He competed as a three year old in the Grade 1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby) at Tokyo on 30th May, 2010, where he defeated Rose Kingdom by a narrow distance of a neck and race favourite Victoire Pisa.
He performed in an impressive manner in his last race of 2011 which took place on 25th December, 2011.
Under jockey Christophe Lemaire, he was defeated by race favourite and Triple Crown Winner Orfevre by ¾ length in the Grade 1 Arima Kinen (The Grand Prix) which took place at Nakayama on 25th December, 2011.
The five-year-old horse will be mounted by Lemaire again, this time competing against some of the best runners from different countries, all competing for the prize in the world’s richest race. The purses of all the races in this festival total up to US$21
million.
Fujiwara is pleased with his form and confident in his ability as he told the press that "I have received the invitation and will accept soon - I always thought he would be selected to run in the Dubai World Cup and have trained him accordingly so his condition
is very good."
Eishin Flash is owned by Toyomitsu Hirai, who is just as excited about his prospects of competing in this prestigious event.
Japan is looking to have a good year with some of its best runners competing in the World Cup. Dark Shadow and Eishin Apollon will be competing in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes, A Shin Virgo will be competing in the Dubai Golden Shaheen and Genten will be competing
in the UAE Derby.
The bookmakers will be keeping a keen eye on this line-up of runners as Victoire Pisa’s victory last year confirmed that Japanese horses are not to be under-estimated.
