Question:

Either Evolution or Creationism?

I don't believe in either one personally. Evolution meets its flaw with me because things aren't evolving now. Evolutionist always say "It takes millions of years." or "things are still evolving, its just not an evolution that happens over night". Well the way I see it. My eyes must be faulty because the only "evolution" I see are mutations occurring from man made substances and I must say most of them can't be too good. I'm not believing in creationism because...well There are thousands of stories on how man and Earth came to be and well...you can't just pick one and say its true because the voice in your head says so or the religion you were brought up with says so.

Well my question is, are their any other thoughts on how man came to be? I know that no one will ever know unless man creates a time machine and goes back in time and records what happened.

  1. Just a note to show how ridiculous 'Just asking's' point about long necks are..

If that was the case...why don't ALL leaf eaters have long necks?

If all the low hanging leaves were eaten...yea..like that happens all the time...just look at all those barren trees in Africa...anyway...all the low hanging leaves are gone...so the short necks are eaten, or die from starvation..the longer necks survive....and pass that one to the next generation...right?

But in the next generation, ALL won't have long necks, some might..but funny thing about trees...there'll be more leaves next year...so now there is no advantage.

There would have to be many, many years of no low hanging leaves...right..because even 8 or 10 generations are not enough to eliminate a trait...and create a new subspecies.

But if that were the case..why aren't all vegetarian animals long necked...because for generations..they must have all starved...

So...why do we still have Giraffes (which aren't horses anyway)..and horses.?    Either they were replaced..or they weren't...either there wasn't enough food...to support short and long necked beasts..or there was..and...then why do we have long-necked beasts??

You make your own call out there...but these simplistic explanations do no justice to evolution theory...if evolution was the case.

  2. While creationism has its problems, but then of course most books on creationism is based on writings @ 1900 BC but are telling stories to explain thing from thousand of years of passed down verbally. You ever play telephone as a kid, and see how quickly facts can change.

Evolution has its problem of where did the first thing come from, they get you back to a Big Bang, But if there was nothing, what went bang?

as for something to evolve there had to be something there first to evolve from.

  3. Well, you got the creationist BS right, but you do not understand the first thing about evolution! Go here.

Oh, and your time machine analogy is false. Ask Scott Peterson if anyone went back in time to see him murder his wife. You will have to go to the death row at San Quentin to do that. We know many things that we do not need a time machine to know.

  4. evolution happens... every new offspring born has superior genes than their parents making them wiser and more capable. as time flies more and more, people are getting more adjusted to the environment.

but for the record i think how life came to be is a little bit of both evolutionary and creationism theory.. to balance things out..

  5. evolution is happening - you can see it in drug resistant strains of diseases.

Mutation is part of evolution process, whether it comes from natural or human causes. It is true that most mutations do not help the mutated individual survive; the second part of evolution is the natural or sexual selection that picks out the few beneficial mutations.

  6. Think of evolution this way...

Suppose I have a population of short-necked leaf-eaters (say, imaginary horses) and they eat food from trees. So they eat and they eat these leaves and soon the leaves of the lowest branches (the ones they can reach) are all gone. So some of these creatures will become hungry and will lack energy. Too bad for them cos when a predator arrives they're gonna get eaten cos they're too weak to run away!

Luckily for the species, not all necks are created equal--that's just the way things are (same with humans being different). It turns out some have slightly longer necks and can just reach the mid-level branches. That means that they have access to resources the rest don't. That leads to better chances of survival and also, reproduction.

Now from the genetic point of view, while all this is happening, the short-necked genes are slowly "dying out" because less and less of them are turning up in the population (their vehicles--the animals--are getting eaten!). Instead, the slightly longer-necked genes are incrementally growing in numbers. In a few generations' time, these short-necked species will be replaced by slightly longer-necked species simply because they were able to exist better in the environment. And this process continues...

Given enough time and imagination, these horse-like animals will turn out to be giraffes.

That's overly simplified of course, but that's how evolution works. That's why you can't "see" it...

  7. The key word here is...SUCCESSFUL mutation, not just mutation!

I know you're probably thinking of mutations like the girl with 8 limbs, or a cow with two heads, that wouldn't ordinarily survive in nature, but these are NOT successful mutations!

DNA replication is like a COPY machine. It only copies with 99.9% accuracy, and occasionally it makes a tiny mistake, which is an actual improvement over the original...

After a few million generations of these tiny SUCCESSFUL mutations, the CHANGES begin to show up, either as a new species, or a new sub-species...Climate, environment, mate selection or land mass separations are also factors in causing these changes...

Given an infinite amount of time, anything is possible!
