Ektihaam to miss out Princess of Wales's Stakes – Horseracing Nnews
Ektihaam has suffered a minor injury, which could rule him out of action of the Princess of Wales's boylesports.com Stakes.
Angus Gold, who is the racing manager of the talented challenger’s owner Hamdan Al Maktoum, said, “He had minor swelling in a joint three days ago and it might preclude him running next week. We've got the option of the King George
and had he stood up and won the Hardwicke that is where we would be looking to run, so we'll see how he is.”
The four-year-old gelding has not been enjoying a good time over the past few days. He took part in a couple of races at Ascot this year and managed to win the first one quite comfortably.
However, luck did not favour him at all during the next event, as he failed to complete the race and ended up taking a tumble. He was rated as the favourite to succeed back then, but ended up injuring himself. His fans will be
hoping that he gets well soon and entertains them in some major competitions just like he did before.
Overall, Ektihaam has participated in a total of 10 races, winning four of them whereas finished as a runner up on a couple of times. He has also secured the third spot once in his career, which means that there have been only
three occasions, where he failed to make it to the top-three.
Another one of Hamdan’s challengers, Mukhadram is looking in good shape right now and he will definitely be a force to reckon with in the July Cup.
Talking about the four-year-old colt, Gold said, “Richard Hills rode him in a pipe-opener this morning and said he was absolutely delighted with him. He had them all in trouble for a bit [at Ascot] and it took what I believe is
the best older horse in Europe [Al Kazeem] the whole of the Ascot straight to catch him.”
Mukhadram has got a pretty decent record and he is improving with the passage of time. His performances this year have been impressive, so his fans will be expecting a solid effort from him in the coming events.
