Aston Villa midfielder and new signing Karim El-Ahmadi is looking to forget about Villa’s poor start to the Premier League season and is targeting a win against Tranmere in the Capital One Cup.
Villa started off their Premier League in poor fashion, failing to get a point from both their games. The first match was a 1-0 away defeat at the hands of West Ham United. Villa were bright and had their moments, but failed to get a goal back.
Their second game was at home against an impressive Everton side which saw them losing to the Merseyside team in a 3-1 score line. This defeat dealt a blow to Villa’s hopes for improving upon last season’s woeful form which saw them manage only 4 home wins
and avoid relegation by a handful of points.
This season, Villa appointed former Norwich boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert as manager, who quickly brought in new signings to make the team stronger as a unit.
Three players arrived from the Dutch Eredivisie; Australian attacking midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 and got the only goal for his
side in the closing minutes of the game through a brilliantly struck striker which swerved towards goal.
Speaking to the press after the game, the player said:
"We have to prepare quick because on Tuesday we have another game and we have to win.”
"We have to show some character as a team and as players. We are professionals and we have to stand up."
El-Ahmadi joined Aston Villa in a 2 million deal from Dutch outfit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258, and admitted that his first goal for the club was not a cause for celebration as his team was 3-0 down at that point.
"In the second half I was playing more behind the strikers and trying to get near them and the ball was following me."
"I had the opportunity to shoot on goal and I think it was a good goal, but I'd rather be winning than scoring a goal."
The Moroccan maintains the team fought hard in the second half and is looking at the positives. The player is targeting a win in the Capital One Cup and hopes it will set things in motion for Villa’s revival.
