El Barco on Ashland Ave in Chicago - please only answer if you've been there?

OK, so I've tried to ask the waitresses many times about what's in the salsa but I took French in high school so fat lot of good that did me. I don't know that it's even technically salsa, but I'm talking about the brown stuff you get for free that you can eat with the limes and saltines while you wait for your entree. That stuff is awesome and I would love to know how it's made / what's in it.

  2. Been to El Barco plenty of times.  I love that salsa too, it's sweet and spicy.  It looks like they toast some kind of dry peppers and blend it with oil.  The question is what pepper do they use.  the girls there speak english maybe they don't want to give the recipe away. :(
