Los Rojiblancos failed to secure UEFA Champions League qualification but had plenty to cheer about as they lifted the UEFA Europa League title for the second time in three seasons.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Pablo Simeone filled the void left by Quique Sanchez Flores, making Atleti faithful forget the nightmarish experience with Gregorio Manzano.
The Argentine removed the stutter from their performances, winning UEFA Europa League title in the process. However, El Cholo’s expertise was not enough to secure Champions League qualification and the mega millions that comes with them.
With the 2012/13 Spanish top flight season three weeks from starting in earnest, Simeone wants Atletico Madrid players to forget what happened in the previous season. He stated that the past is irrelevant as their objectives will not be fulfilled what they
have achieved before.
El Cholo remarked that Atletico had a competitive squad which will be augmented by their recent signings. He heaped praise on the likes of Emre Belozoglu, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 ‘Cata’ Diaz and Christian Rodriguez who have been incoroporated in Los Rojiblancos dressing
room over the summer transfer window.
"To begin meeting the first objective, we have to forget what we have done recently," Simeone told assembled reporters at a press conference.
"The requirements of a club like Atletico Madrid are not covered by past results. We have a solid squad foundation to count on in the upcoming term, aided by some excellent signings.”
"Emre Belozoglu will come in to support the centre, Daniel Diaz will boost our abilities at the back and Christian Rodriguez will roam our flanks."
The reigning UEFA Europa League champions are currently in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nacional-c39984 in a pre-season friendly, an outing Simeone wants to use to gauge their
preparations.
El Cholo stated that he prefers to train against South American teams because of the intensity these matches have.
"In principle, I like to deal with South American teams because I come from this side of the world, but more so because of the fervour they always adopt when they play against teams from Europe.”
