Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez has claimed that Saturday's match against fierce traditional rivals, Real Madrid, will not be a title decider for the Catalans.
Xavi insisted that his side was not considering the match as a must-win, as there is still a long way to go into the season and both teams will be presented with more opportunities to win La Liga. He expressed that he would not be greatly moved, should his
team be defeated at the hands of their most fierce rivals.
Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 will lock horns on Saturday, December 10, at Santiago Bernabeu in this season’s first La Liga El Clasico. The eagerly anticipated match has been speculated to be heavily contested and football fans all over the world will be keen
on following the proceedings at the Spanish capital.
Pep Guardiola’s men currently trail Los Blancos with three points and have also played one game more. They are currently second on the Spanish Primera standings, a fact which emphasizes the importance of Saturday’s fixture for the Catalans.
Considering the impressive form Jose Mourinho’s men have been in throughout the season so far, a tough encounter is being expected by most. Real Madrid have managed to win their last 15 matches on a trot.
However, Xavi has expressed that his team will not be under any sort of pressure ahead of the game and the fixture will be treated as just another league game.
While addressing the press, the Spanish international was quoted as saying:
“If we do not win, there would still be many points, there will be no [final] verdict.”
Xavi also discussed Los Blancos’ form this season, however, he refused to predict the result for the approaching El Clasico.
“Madrid are doing well, with 11 straight wins in the league, and they have three more points than us. The advantage means they are currently better, but the Clasico is not about ranking. Anything can happen. This is the first Clasico to arrive in three or
four years in which Madrid are in better shape [than us]. They are physically strong.” He stated.
As the Clasico draws near, players and supporters alike look forward to what is expected to be an epic encounter.
