El Miller seeks an OR victory
Though El Miller’s career chart is awash with podium finishes, but he still starves for an OR victory. To make this dream true, the legendary trainer P. Young’s black dog has gird up his lines fully for the Heat 2 race of the Betfred Maiden 480m Trophy that
is set to make the scene at Nottingham on November 12.
Both the track and the distance are new to him, but the two-year-old novice hound will run with the punters’ confidence and the stamina his trainer has infused in him.
The open race of £150 is to go over 480 metres. El Miller will break from Trap 6 to pursue a big breakthrough of his career.
The 5-4 odds indicate that there exist enough expectations in the market about the young dog’s performance. However, there are some critics who opine that success will be a herculean task for the best-priced runner as he has never done well in this format
of the game.
The son of Crash out of Mandeville Black started his career with a 10-length clean T2 victory on May 29. During the next three months, he could not be able to taste a single success.
El Miller returned to form in September and won Willis Risk Services (Ireland) A1 525 Final by beating a joint favourite runner Rockburst Saint. It was an awesome performance indeed.
On October 29, the talented sprinter won a T3 race by 2 ¼ lengths. This is all he has achieved so far. Apart from it, we see some runner-up positions and a few thirds in his profile.
Thus, winning tonight’s race is a matter of great importance for the dog. In compare with other five contestants, he is somewhat better and stronger. So, this is an ideal chance for him to earn an OR title.
The only rival who can challenge him is Last Lap. Though the T. Paterson trained black dog is going through a lean patch these days, but the way he performed during June-July shows that the novice runner can return to form anytime.
