How do I deter those little black or brown ants. They are all over my lawn and shrubs and they bite. Last year they sent me to the hospital after I was bitten by many of them while standing on one of their nest. What is the best way to get rid of them.

  1. ant spray or hot water

  2. Use a mix of cinnamon and sugar. The ants will pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.

  3. What do they like to eat?  Get some boric acid (it's sold as a bug powder or roach powder; it works on all arthropods.  Mix some boric acid with some of the ants' favorite food and put it out for them.  They will swarm it and eat it and take it back to the rest of the colony.  Within a few days the colony will be moribund.  Boric acid does not harm people, mammals, birds, or reptiles.  Only arthropods. It can kill them if they ingest it or if they walk on it.
