  1. I am a latino, and honestly i don't find salvadorenean food good at all. Nor do i find authentic mexican(or mexican food, or however you or that other person refer to it) food a little bit good.

Mexicans are known for their seafood, other than that, its the texmex, that really has a good taste.

Thanks to north america, we have texmex.

  2. What is the El Salvadorian dish?  Real Mexican food is great.

  3. i love mexican food and i don't think anyone is gonna post racial comments but u telling them not to might give them the idea

  4. I've had both.  I prefer Mexican.  See here for comparison if you are unfamiliar.

  5. I don't think I have ever eaten Salvadorian food so....I'm going to go with Mexican food.

  6. I would only say Mexican because it is a larger land and so there are lot of different regions with different good foods.

  7. Well, being mexican myself, I really do prefer mexican food. It does differ in the different regions of Mexico. My family is from Yucatan and the food from there is incredible!! For dessert, I really like the Mayan version of maja blanco and I also like Ojaldra for breakfast. I must say that my favorite meat must be the cochinita!! I swear the mayan food is the best. I really am greatful that my family tries to preserve our mayan traditions with mayan cooking, you must try it!! Also, no offense intended to El Salvadorian people or their food

  8. Salvadoran Quesadilla

    1 stick butter

    240 ml sugar

    3 eggs

    240 ml flour

    1 tsp baking powder

    240 ml sour cream

    115 g parmesan cheese, grated

    sesame seeds

    Preparation:

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). In a large mixing bowl, blend the butter and sugar until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, blending after each addition. Combine the flour with the baking powder separately, then gradually blend into the butter mixture. Add the sour cream and cheese, and mix well. Spread the mixture evenly on a greased baking dish or pan. Top with sesame seeds. Bake for 40 to 60 minutes.

    Quesadilla Recipe:

    Cuisine: Mexican

    Makes approx 6-7 quesadillas

    Ingredients:

    For flour tortillas:

    1 3/4 cups flour

    2 tbsps butter

    1/2 tsp salt

    1/2 tsp baking powder

approx 1/2 cup warm milk or water

    For the vegetable filling:

onions, cabbage, beans, carrots, capsicum, baby corn, sweet corn, green peas, mushrooms, spring onions or any vegetables of your choice

    salt to taste

    red chilli flakes

    3/4-1 cup grated cheese

    1/2 cup sour cream (optional)

First combine all the ingredients except milk. Now slowly add the warm milk or water to knead to a soft dough, kneading well for 4-5 mts. Keep aside for 15 mts and during this sitting time of dough, prepare the vegetable filling.

Make lemon sized balls of the dough and using a rolling pin to roll out like very thin rotis of approx 8″-9″ size.

Pre-heat a griddle and place each tortilla on the hot griddle for only 4-5 seconds on each side and remove. They shouldn’t be roasted brown at this stage. Keep aside all the lightly toasted tortillas.

    For the vegetable filling:

The vegetables I used were grated carrots, finely chopped cabbage, capsicum, baby corn, onions, sweet corn, grated paneer, tomatoes and coriander leaves. Saute the garlic first followed by the vegetables in olive oil for 3 mts, season with salt and red chilli flakes. (you can skip the saute part).

Take the vegetable filling and place in the centre of each tortilla, spread a tbsp of sour cream, sprinkle grated cheese and wet the edges of the tortilla with water. Place another tortilla on top and press the edges. Take a fork and press along the edges as shown in the picture above.

Pre-heat a griddle and on medium heat roast both sides of the quesadilla flipping over to toast both sides. Ensure that you cook it over medium heat, you want the cheese to melt inside. Drizzle some oil if you want while frying the quesadilla. Remove quesadilla onto a serving plate, slice into triangles with a pizza cutter and serve hot with salsa or tomato sauce.

They are so close I find not too much difference in the proceedure or taste the only difference in the El Salvadorian -vs- Mexican food is the spices they use, and the El Salvadorian one does not use the vegetables in it.  I enjoy both versions.

hope these help.            good luck and enjoy.

  9. Wat is the differecE?

  10. Both are pretty darn good to me.  I have had more Mexican Food, as my in laws are Mexican, but  my friend is from Salvador and her food is just as good.  Some things are the same with a little twist, and tweaks here and there.  But to choice which one was better that's tough!!

  11. Too hard to choose one.

I can't think of anything Mexican i don't like. Sometimes I get in the mood for pupusas loaded with lots of curtido. I eat too much and the salt in the curtido makes me bloated.

  12. Mexican because their dishes incorporate more meats whereas El Salvadorian cuisine has much less meat with more of a focus on rice/beans/fruit type dishes.

  13. well mexican dish is better

to me i havent tried salvadorian food

    but to me its mexican

  14. I like both, but there is much more variety with Mexican food.
