El kameleon JVC KD-AVX44 no sound with cd/dvd, only radio?

I installed this in my BMW, but I'm having problems with playing CDs and DVDs. I get sound from the radio, but no sound from the CD or DVD. DVD does play video, but still no sound. I think there's a setting I'm missing to enable this. Anyone know what the problem is? I've already replaced the unit once. thanks.

I got a KD-AVX11 today, and was pulling my hair out over the exact same problem. I finally found out what it was. My car has a built-in factory amp, and I bet anything yours does too. The wiring harness I had jumped the connection from the power antenna lead to the amp remote power lead for some reason. So when the radio was selected, and the antenna extended, the amp was turned on. On any other source, it was turned off. I solved the problem by removing the jumper, and having the blue w/white stripe wire from the receiver connected to the same colored wire in the car.
