  1. Dont deny some of the comments the previuos poster made, however things are very regional. Parts of southern Costa Blanca where over run with cheap poorly built property, now buyers are a bit more savy they are sticking, good property at sensible prices in good areas do still sell. Spain is the fastest growing economy in Europe. Trouble is some people come to Spain to buy a property and leave their brains at home, buy from a company that has been recomended, allways use a solicitor (believe me some dont). The land grab LRAU affects only a small percentage of property owners and whilst devestating to those affected has been sensationalised. The new law LUV addresses many of the issues and the European court of human rights is now on the case. In any case buying on a golf course development you cannot be affected by land grab

  2. I would err on the edge of caution at the present moment, I live in Spain and the country is heading to a recession, prices of everything are up and property is not selling. A couple of week the local English language papers were reporting that 9% of the housing stock in Spain is currently sitting empty and 50% of new builds are being completed but not sold. As one drives around the area ( I am Southern Costa Blanca) I see re-sale property that has been on the market for over 12 months and the owners are having to drop the prices. There is also a big issue of the Land Grab law and the cases of illegal builds all over, in fact there is a programme on ITV this Friday coming Tonight with Trevor McDonald, that is exposing the issue of illegal builds on the Costa Del Sol.

My advice to anyone thinking about buying here, would be to come over, without buring boats at home and renting somewhere near or where you want to be for 6 months, to get a real feel for the place before making any final commitments to buying here. Have a look at the link to see one example of issues here
