I have an elastic hooked onto my braces on the left side of my mouth. I'm supposed to wear it 24/7, I was just wondering how is this moving my jaw? Like is this elastic moving my bottom jaw to the left or right? Please Help.

Thanks.

  1. well how it moves your jaw depends on: whether you have an under bite or an over bite and also how he has you wearing them...

elastics suck. but you HAVE TO wear them all the time (except for brushing and eating) otherwise you wont get your rbaces off until your bite is fixed

each time you go he may ask you to wear thema different way...it takes a while for them to work their magic. so dont expect huge change by your next appt.

i dont know how those tiny elastics do it, but if you wear them properlyu they will fix you bite!

  2. In the same way braces on their own move teeth.

Elastics just provide a lot more force.

Also there are many different type of elastic configurations on teeth, so it's hard to say *exactly* how they are moving the teeth, but the above is the general idea.
