Elbow injury: Jacksonville Jaguars’ QB Blaine Gabbert latest status unknown – NFL News
Quarterback Blaine Gabbert’s injury status was unknown a day after he suffered an elbow injury to leave the Jacksonville Jaguars against Houston Texans game in the first quarter.
Only information around the player’s injury is that he suffered a bruised elbow, which made him leave the game in first quarter for backup quarterback Chad Henne to take charge of the offence.
Blaine was hit by Texans’ safety Danieal Manning. He was taken on the sidelines for inspection and spent the rest of the game on the sidelines.
It is also not clear if the injury had come about on his throwing arm and whether he will back with the squad next week or will take a longer period for the rehabilitation process.
Apparently, the player and the team management do not appear to be that concerned because what it looks from visible signs is that the player might be able to make the squad next week. So there is not worry as such.
Irrespective of the performance-related questions, Blaine remains crucial to the Jags for the rest of the season. Without him in the side the Jags had almost come closer to beating the Texans but could not finish the game on thrilling manners and the hosts
took away the game into their favour in last few minutes.
Henne did perform well but his lack of experience did not help at the end, and although almost all staff has commented on the Jags’ game against the Texans, they have not thrown a light on their offence leader’s injury.
The situation is expected to be a bit clearer by Tuesday, a day earlier than mid week training, because if the player needs an extra examination of tests, the team should expect the reports by Tuesday. Without a doctor’s opinion the team have relied on little
information to inform media about update of the player’s injury.
The Jags must be hoping that all goes fine with the player.
