Elder Scrolls V Skyrim to offer DLC exclusively for the Xbox 360 initially
It seems like Microsoft are trying their best to tap up the market, following the decrease in PlayStation 3 consoles, as the company is now looking to strike up exclusive deals with games developers.
Microsoft has gone on to strike up a deal with Bethesda and as a result, the Xbox 360 is now going to exclusively have downloadable content available on it for the upcoming, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. These downloads will be exclusive to the 360 for the first
30 days following the release of the game and are bound to get a few gamers heads to turn.
These days, it is partially rare to see a publisher side with one console and offer it some sort of exclusivity. However, over the course of the last few years, there have been numerous examples of such events taking place. The PlayStation 3 had console
exclusive content offered with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Dante's Inferno. On the other hand, the Xbox 360 has had games like Call of Duty: Black Ops and Homefront offer content before any of its competitors could.
Nonetheless, Microsoft seems to be taking the lead in the exclusivity that games offer, as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s initial add-ons, will be available to the 360 for the first 30 days. During these 30 days, the 360 console owners will be able to explore
a whole new section of the game and possibly see new upgrades, while the PC and PS3 owners sit back and wait. This is not the first time that Microsoft struck up a deal with Bethesda. Last year, the two teamed up and launched a similar offer for Dead Money
and Fallout: New Vegas.
That being said, gamers can expect the downloadable content that the game is going to offer to be significant and not something like the horse armour which was offered with Elders Scrolls V: Oblivion. Producer, Todd Howard has gone on to confirm that despite
the quantity of the add-ons being relatively lower this time around, each and every add-on is going to be substantial and offer a new dimension to playing the game with.
At the moment, the game is set to be launched on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC, on November 11. The game is already being hailed as one of the must have games coming out and with the improvements that the team has made to the game, it might
just go on to become the best selling Elder Scrolls game to date.
