Elderberry Zen to take command of the Bags/Sis 500 at Monmore on 5th March

The second heat of the Grade A6 Bags/Sis 500 is to get staged at Monmore over 480 metres flat. The race that carries a prize money of £150 has a lineup of six ready to battle through the distance.
The hounds participating include Mosslane Pam, Skyline Bella, Elderberry Zen, Newinn Time, Slaneyside Titan and King Rabadabadoo.
The most credible entry among the lineup was Elderberry Zen, Boherduff Light’s three-year-old black son out of b***h Droopys Breda.
He has been out racing eight times already out of which he has won only once. Through the five initial races of the new season, Elderberry Zen remained winless and then won the Grade A6 Owners Bonus Series – Heat 2 at Monmore over 480 metres.
Elderberry Zen clocked the distance in 28.90 seconds while in lead of two lengths. The runner up of the race was King Rabadabadoo and also was the 7/4 favourite of the race and was soon followed by Catunda Bernie who finished third in line after the winner.
He yet again remained winless in the next two starts but did not let the rankings go below the second position.
On 20th February, Elderberry Zen won the Grade A6 Owners Bonus Series – Final at Monmore over 480 metres flat by clocking the distance in 29.01 seconds behind the 5/4 favourite winner, Holston Sophie, who made reaching the other side of the wire
possible in 28.69 seconds and was four lengths ahead.
Finishing the race third was Wrestlers Stop who managed the distance in 29.01 seconds.
Today Elderberry Zen will be up for his ninth start of the season with bright and high chances of getting the race under his belt tonight.
Another entry with whom Elderberry Zen has interacted before is King Rabadabadoo, Ballymac Maeve’s four-year-old white and brindle son out of b***h Na Mona Queen. Through the eight races that the four-year-old has participated in, he has remained winless
but was placed six times. The amount of placings is not very demoralising as that reflects the consistency that King Rabadabadoo has been striving to keep up with.
He too is stepping onto his ninth venture of the season and it is high time that he breaks free from the losing routine.
