  1. I recommend this for your birthday/christmas/religious holiday that involves gifts =)

all you need and will last you a while!

there's cheaper versions, but I really like that one in the link above. I got it myself and it was great! amp lasted for 4 years until I stupidly tried playing it at volume 10 for an hour. the guitar I still use occasionally, but at this point I've gotten a fender telecaster, another great but more expensive guitar.

private lessons will be anywhere from 15-30 bucks per half hour. I suggest getting that pack for christmas this year (assuming you celebrate christmas lol) and then getting lessons from january until school goes out for the summer. by that time you'll have learned enough to see if you want to keep going with lessons. total cost should be around 500-600 bucks, depending on how many lessons you end up getting. good luck to you!

  2. Electric guitar is going to set you back at least $100, and private lessons are going to be VERY expensive. Probably $500.

  3. A decent electric guitar costs around $350-$450. You want a good guitar that lasts for years.

For me I pay $100 a month for lessons. Every teacher is different and you usually get (or don't get) what you pay for. You're lucky if you find a great teacher the first time. I had to go through two to get the one I have now. But if this happens, don't give up if you really want to take lessons. There are competent teachers out there who want to teach and are not just in it for the money; you just gotta do a little searching. :-)

And I wouldn't stop going to lessons unless I have a really good reason to quit. Why stop when you're ahead right?

  4. Go for a starter pack for an electric guitar...Ibanez and fender make decent ones.  They cost about $170 and come with a guitar, an amp and a tuner.  Lessons should cost you about $15 for a half hour.  Which is all you need when your starting.

    Good Luck :)
