Electric SUPERCHARGERS!?

now seen in adds and of course.. EBAY. the electric supercharger which does NOT run on a belt.. its called a supercharger but its electric.. anyways.. it is said that the average engine can withstand atleast 4-5 psi .. and the electric supercharger gives about that much forced induction.. its also button switch activated.. does it actually work?

  2. It might help a lawnmower engine.  Most engines would see it as a choke..

  3. electric superchargers do not create any psi ( pounds per square inch) therefore it cannot increase horespower.  It does however create cfm ( a cubic feet per minute rate) which is just the amount of air flow, just the same as a fan.  It can't create any pressure because it isn't a closed system, therefore as pressure were to build it would blow back out the other side of the fan or (electric supercharger) , its a good idea in theory, but if you were to gain any horesepower at all, it would be wiped out by the drain on the electrical system, resulting in a net loss of horsepower.

  4. A super charger need to increase the boost pressure by at least 10 PSI to 15 PSI to see a difference.

    4-5 psi is just too little.
