Question:

Electric appliances to air compressed with help of solar cells?

I am doing a project and I need someone to just lay out the groundwork to describe and maybe do a drawing on how electric appliances in the house can be converted to air compressed ones with the use of solar cells.

I need to know the actual process of what the solar cells do and stuff so I can do a diagram on it also.

  1. That would be inefficient.  You should just run the electic products off the energy generated with the solar panels.  You could have a battery to stor energy for when you need it, or sell your excess energy back to your utility.

  2. That is a great combination. (solar and compressed air). The problem with solar panels is that they produce electricity only when the sun is out. You can use sun energy during the day to store compressed air in high compression tanks and use that compressed air during the night to run a generator to produce electricity. The problem with batteries is that they have a short life time (4 to 5 year if used intensively), they cost a lot, you need lots of them to store enough energy, you spend lots of energy to produce a battery and they have chemicals in them that can pollute if not properly discarded or recycled. Check out this video in youtube of compressed air used to run cars. The same way compressed air can run an engine it can run a generator to produce electricity.
