Electric ariel on Jag XJ6 won't retract fully. Tried WD40 etc any ideas

It may have a broken plastic inner. You can get just the aerial bit and replace that.

Sometimes this is due to wear in the retraction mechanism but this is fairly durable. As often as not this problem is due to the mast, either due to fine surface corrosion/roughening creating friction or, and more likely, the mast has bent very slightly and is catching. A replacement mast is very likely to be the answer for you.

Despite the thumbs-down,The Drunken Fool is correct, I had the same problem on my XJ. Just replace the mast (about £10) that will cure it.

personally i would have a manual aerial as these are quite expensive replacements
