Electric bicycle calculating Watts?

im going to buy an electric bicycle soon and i want to know does 4 batteries of 12V and 12 Amps equals to 576W (4x144).

  1. It's not quite that simple...

    The current usage depends on the draw of the motor, and what it's limits are.        but yes, W = V * A

    In a DC motor, voltage increases rpm, and amps increase torque. So amps drawn depends on torque load applied at that speed. The motor should have an amp limiter on it.

    The volts depend on whether the batteries are wired in series(48v), or parallel(12v)

      Current capacity of batteries is measured in ampere-hours. Example, a battery rated at 20 ampere-hours would produce 20 amps for 1 hour or 2 amps for 10 hours, with infinite combinations.
