  1. I am trying to get your that answer, in the mean time you can help me finding it at www.agua-luna.com, try the forum or the yahoo group from the same page.

  2. Do you mean you want to have a central motor running into a manual transmission rather than have motor per wheel technology? And use multiple gears rather than multiple windings per motor? It is not being done, but there might still be some reason to do it.

  3. there is no gear changing transmission in electric vehicles.  The Tesla was suppose to have a two speed gear transmission, but they can not get it to work yet.

  4. It really doesn't make sense to have a manual gear shift in an electric vehicle.  Yes, it is definitely possible, but why do it?  You can control the speed much easier through a regulator just like you do very simply on a house fan or like how you control the light through a dimmer switch.  And with hub motors you don't have to have all the shafts and gearing to go out to the wheels.  You just have the motors right at the wheels.  This can make an electric car much more efficent because you avoid the energy loss on the movement of all the shafts and sun gear, and planetary gears, etc.

GM did a test of hub motors on a Chevy S-10 and with the torque they were able to provide it could beat a Chevy Corvette when going 0-60 mph.

  5. Yes.  The Green Vehicles Triac is the first affordable highway speed EV available, and it has a 5 speed manual transmission.
