Question:

Electric cook-top with one burner not working...safe to use other burners?

was using one burner tonight and turned on another one -that one made a pop noise- lit up and then and tripped the breaker...so we reset it and that burners indicator light shows its on but doesn't get hot.why did this happen and is it safe to use the other burners?

  1. one of two possible things happened..1  the burner burnt out or 2 the holder it plugs into burnt out...It should be safe to use the other burners just make sure the bad burner's control k**b is in the off position...you can also turn the breaker off and the bad burner should just pull out with just a little effort and then you can look at it to see if a hole is in the element part of the burner..you can buy replacement burners for most any brand range at the place where you bought the range or at a store that sells that model range..If the holder burnt up it would be better to have a repairman to come and replace it...


  2. You have blown an element, your cooker is fine to use, try not to switch other element on while using your cooker until it been repaired.
