Electric foam planers???

Question

i just bought a hitachi p20-sbk planer thinking i could outsmart the companys that want 500 bucks for the clark foam planer (for shaping surfboards) its the same model they use...i thought...turns out clack foam mods it themselves...so my question is have i wasted my money or can i still use this...??? is there somewhere i can buy just the mod?? any help would be great!!

yes you can. also you  know that they did mods so find out what they did , i doubt that they hired out to some big company check some local machinists . or figure out your own

I still use hand tools to shape so can't help you other than I know that the Clark mods had to to with the depth adjustment and something about the shoes.  I also know that plenty of people shape using unmodified planers.  Dig through the archives on www.swaylocks.com.
