The electric motor in a toy train requires a voltage of 3.8 V. Find the ratio of turns on the primary coil to turns on the secondary coil in a transformer that will step the 110 V household voltage down to 3.8 V.

  1. 110 / 3.8 = 29 primary to 1 secondary


  2. The chances are that your motor is driven by D>C>supply

    that is from battery. So supply from a tranformer is to be converted into DC by a rectifier before giving into toytrain!
