Electric or aucustic?

Question

im turning 13 in august and im getting a guitar i wanted an electric guitar but should i start out with aucustic since im begining or does it matter and i play clarinet and piano so im pretty good with music

personally I would go with electric, because it is not as bulky and it is a little easier as far as playability and action goes.

Depending what kind of you music you would like to play, i suggest looking at singers or bands you like and see what kind they play and get as cheaper version or a starter pack.

I personally would recommend electric!

I started with acoustic (actually, classical), but I had no say in it because my grandpa bought me a classical without me knowing haha! Then I went to acoustic, then to electric. I still play acoustic from time-to-time. I don't know what happened to my classical...

Anyway, you'll build calluses faster on acoustic, since it uses steel strings and you have to press down harder. (You want/need calluses, by the way.)

But it really comes down to what you want to start with. You may want to play both acoustic and electric and that's perfectly fine. A LOT of guitarists play both, like my teacher.

I think that it depends what you're going to play.  Both guitars have a different look and sound.

The acoustic guitar has a bigger, hollow body to amplify the sound, and most of them can hook up to an amplifier if you need to play louder for an audience.

The electric guitar has a small, thin body that doesn't help resonate the sound, so you'll need an amplifier.  It also has a wider range of sounds.  Everything you need with it will probably cost more than an acoustic.

All in all, it depends what you are going to play, and what you think will suit you.

i started playing electric when i was 13, theres really no deference in difficulty, my brother has an accoustic.
