  1. Internal Combustion Advantages:

    -Long range

    -Quick refueling

    Internal Combustion Disadvantages:

    -Pollution

    -Costly repairs

    Electric Advantages:

    -Instant torque

    -No pollution

-Low or no repair costs (very few moving parts)

    Electric Disadvantages:

    -Short range

-Batteries take a long time to recharge

-Using air-conditioner, radio, heater, etc. decrease battery power.

  2. Jeffrey B hit the nail on the head.

  3. Electric vehicles - expensive toys

Gas powered vehicles - practical transportation

  4. Would you rather drive a golf cart or a Jetta?

  5. Dear Rattlingmurdock,

Eeree Meeree! This is Zork. I have come to Earth offering tips on recession and environment.

Surely you are joking with this question.  Unless you are from another planet, you understand the combustion engine was invented by your scientist Carnot. You basically mix air and gasoline, shove it into the piston area, compress it and ignite it, enabling the crank shaft to move the transmission which rotates the tires. This is a simple explanation of your "primitive" combustion technology.

Electric cars simply use batteries to drive the electric motor which turns the transmission.

Electric cars are not the answer until Earthlings figure out how to make more efficient batteries. Plug in hybrids coupled with lighter, smaller cars is your interim solution, until Earthlings get their heads out of their rears and realize that hydrogen is the future.

We, aliens will give you a hint: Green Algae is the answer to producing hydrogen. Use your craniums to figure it out. We cannot do it for you, otherwise, we would be breaking galaxy rules and interfering with your natural evolution.

  6. Well currently the electric cars are few and far between  with availablity that may be the number one problem. The number two problem is the cost of the cars. Most electric cars are city owned by the local government. The third is the batteries. They are getting better and last longer than four hours without a charge. the electic cars they are using in certain cities can be plug into a regular three pronged electrical outlet. They have also hybrid cars that use both electric and gasoline. Gasoline cars are readily more avilable and are more fuel efficient than before. You don1t have to worry about finding a charging station. They give off emissions into the atmosphere. They are dependant on fossil fuels.

  7. for the short runs we do every day, electric is the answer. it seems pointless when you use fossil fuels to make hydrogen unless of course you are protecting the greedy oil interests. it also seems pointless to design a hybrid vehicle using the engine to also propell the car. just more parts to wear. build the d**n thing as a Series Hybrid Electric, meaning a smaller more fuel efficient engine thats tuned to run at a specific rpm will be vastly more fuel efficient. electric motors do not need to be thru a transmission. Oh, I must appologize, I keep on forgetting the greedy oil industry along with government do not want fuel efficient vehicles.

  8. The battery systems will not allow u to travel very long distances and the battery takes too long to recharge.
