  1. yes it needs to be plugged in the whole time. they do make cordless versions. perhaps you should go get a cordless or a gas version. i like the 4 cycle gas engines. they work great and pollute alot less then the 2 cycle ones. gas it the way to go. spend the extra coin now its going to be worth it.

  2. just dont cut the cord with the string or you have to get out the electric tape.

The electrics are okay in my book. no gas, no oil,  no tune up and no failing to start, and no batteries to run down( on the cordless types),,and very light to handle

  3. Depending on the model of weedeater you bought, it is either corded or cordless.

The cordless models run on an 18V battery that you have to recharge (usually comes with two).  Unless you have a fairly small yard, you'll need both batteries (and maybe more) to complete the work.

The corded models need a power source at all times, so they have to be plugged in.  There are some hybrid models (corded and battery power) as well.

Check and see what kind you bought to answer your question!

  4. If its a cordless weed trimmer you don't need a cord to run it because it's run with a rechargeble battery. If if is a corded model you need an extension cord! I have a corded model and I use 150 feet of extension cord. I have to plug it in the rear of my house for the back yard, then plug the cord in the front of the house for the front yard and sides. It's not to big of a hassle but then again I dont have many shrubs etc. to snag the cord. I been using same trimmer for 15 years!
