  1. either cut the breaker or use a wire tester. Never assume that it is wired properly or you may get shocked

  2. Verdugo: Your question tells me that you don't know anything about power electricity don't do anything and call an electrician. You can cause a fire, shock your self, kill yourself, or badly injure yourself, and probably go blind when a huge spark occurs and is close to your eyes. I feel that the master electrician is right. by the name tatimsaspas..Call an electrician.

  3. bothe white and the blk R part of the circuit. you can actually get shocked by either one depending on the circumstances.

Juts turn off the circuit braker and it is somewhat safer,,,though not guaranteed.

  4. don't touch a thing you fool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

the electricity doesn't know what color the wire is

if the last guy did  it wrong either wire could kill you

you COULD HAVE REVERSE POLARITY SWITCHED NEUTRALS, SWITCH LOOPS

THERE ARE ENDLESS WAY TO WIRE THAT COULD MAKE THE WHITE , BLACK OR BOTH DANGEROUS

if the last guy did it right either wire could kill you

  5. You should typically cut the white wire as this is neutral, but I wouldn't recommend cutting any wire unless you turn off the power.  You can cut any hot wire (typically black), as long as you are not cutting or touching a ground or neutral at the same time.

  6. Depends on what you are doing but:

    black is hot wire

white is neutral....white carries no voltage in a 120v application

  7. Firstly, the power should be turned off, and secondly, you could get shocked from the active and the neutral. If you break a neutral that has current flowing through it then touch the neutral, you will complete the circuit and get shocked. Just get an electrician, it's cheaper than hospital fees.

  8. Standard electrical wiring for what? If the wires are live chances are you will get a chock if u cut any of them. It also depends what u cut it with, make sure u have some insualtion between your hands and the wire like rubber gloves or a plastic handle on the cutters.
