Electrical Engineering...?

See, I want to learn Electrical Engineering with software. However, I also want to be able to do the work of an electrician. (What can I say? I'm a DIY kind of person)

If I was to get a degree in Electrical Engineering, how long would it take me to learn the electrician trade? I know it's not as difficult as engineering, but would I have to go through all the training courses if I can already design the electrical systems?

  1. Yes, usually.  Most colleges would give you credit for the math courses though.  You'd still need to do the practical courses and apprentice time to become a journeyman electrician.
