Electrical taillight problem Mariner '05

Question

My taillights stay on after the car is off and completely drains my battery. When I try to start the car (eventhough it's dead) the interior lights blink on and off and I hear a clicking noise.

are you sure it's the tail lights and not the brake lights?   Pull the tail fuse first and see if they go out.
