Question:

Electricity Power Lines?

Has anyone ever had a pay out for having High Voltage Power Lines passing over or close to their property?

I live in a house which has this situation, plus @ at least 10 neighbours, localy. I believe one of my neighbours has already had a pay out for compensation, and that I am one of the last people to try to claim compensation for this. All or most of the other neighbours are in the process of doing so with a Property Compensation Consultant.

Aparently this matter is nothing to do with any health matter, cancer scares in th past etc.

I was just wondering if anyone had been in the same situation, in the past.

  1. If the matter which concerns you is not one of health risk, then for what do you think you should be compensated for?

  2. yes definitely the gov has to pay for that. you could contact ur local electricity dept

  3. I personally have never had a payout, but I do know that if a company effects the value of your property by installing unsightly/noise polluting/smelly etc. equipment in your area they should be liable for the damage caused to you.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Payment for the Right of Way is common in capitalist countries.

The smaller distribution lines don't normally merit compensation to the landowner, since the landowner is usually directly benefiting from the lines.

But, transmission lines do usually involve compensation to the landowner, because they are a significant change to the usefulness (and value) of the property.  Same is true for pipelines, because of the restrictions imposed on new construction near the pipeline.
