Electricity and heat in England/U.K?

Is it true that the cost for heating (electricity) your home in England/U.K is so high that many turn off their heat during the night? Doesn't it get very cold then and how do you do during winter time?

it is quite high,

seen as my house doesnt have cental heating(radiators) its very chilly in winter but we do have 2 gas fires , which keeps things toasty

to be honest u dont really need the heating all the time anyway even when u have it

just use extra blankets at nite or invite yr bf or gf to come round to keep u warm lol
