Question:

Electricity converter for USA & Spain

I am looking for a good electric converter/transformer (however it is called) for using while in Spain. I need a good one and not just for little electronics like hairdryers, etc...but for laptops. My laptop operates at around 320 watts, so it has to be good enough to take that amount of electricity. The reason I ask is because I have heard that they do not always work for sophisticated electronics like laptops, PS2, etc...Any recommendations on what to look for, brands, etc...? I found a nice one in Staples, but it had a warning not for LAPTOPS. Thanks a lot!!

  1. Check your laptop's power supply to see if it's multi-voltage compatible. Most are.

If that's the case, what you'll need to find is either a cable that fits a Spanish plug that also plugs into your laptop's transformer (the box in the middle of the power cord) or a plug converter that'll get the right kind of connection off the end of the cord you already have.

(This has worked for me moving machines from Australia to the USA and vice versa.)
