  1. Aound 20 pence. It depends on your supplier and then again on what tariff you are on. It also depends on the amount you use. Some tariffs you start at about 25 pence and once you have used a certain level the price reduces per Kw/h.

Think about going onto Economy 7 and get some information about it. This is for off peak usage (overnight) and you will pay only around 5pence per Kw/h. Using time switches for washing, dishwasher, immersion heater etc will cut your bill down.

  2. Well, after all the taxes and everything else I end up spending about 11.2 cents per Kilowatt Hour.  I am in Southern California.

  3. The last time I checked the UK prices....

The cheapest domestic rates were about 18p for the first 900 units you use (or the first 225 a quarter) and then about 8p a unit, however with British Gas announcing increases last week this will have changed.

Commercial rates work out a bit cheaper - depending on how much they use. This can vary from about 5p a unit up to 15p a unit. Large users for this financial year might be paying about 6.5p a unit depending on their contract.

Of course these prices are from memory and I would have to check and they vary with who the supplier is, where you live, the type of contract you have and the amount you use (and even whether you buy other services from the supplier -like gas or even telephone).

You can check out the internet supplier switching web sites to get a better idea.

    Hope that helps
