  1. Every appliance has a wattage rating on the information plate. Wattage is the amount of power consumed by the appliance. Look on the back of your TV and record the wattage. Now look on all the components of your computer system (the computer itself, the monitor, the printer, any other items that are connected to power when the computer is on) and record the wattages on their labels then add them. That is the total wattage the system can consume. Wattage is not a static level.. it will vary depending on what the appliance is doing. But it will give you a good idea of what the appliance will be using.

  2. Look on the back of your TV and record the wattage. Now  record the wattage's of your PC. Compare both of them. The device with more wattage will consume more.

If the light has an electric dimmer, then it will consume less but if it has a dimmer which uses resistance then there will be no effect ( since due to resistance, electric energy is converted into heat energy.)

Each an every appliance consumes electricity if it is switched on. Even when your mobile is not connected to the charger , the charger still consumes electricity but this amount in just negligible.!

  3. Part one:  It depends on the wattage consumption of the TV set and the computer.

Part two:  99.99 percent of all household light dimmers are SCR switching devices rather than rheostats, and do not use resistors.  The SCR circuit reduces the current consumed by the light bulbs, but not in a linear fashion.  The lower the light level, the more idle current the dimmer circuit uses.

Part three:  The cell phone charger has an idle current rating, so it does consume a small amount of electricity when it is not charging.  There was one wrong answer on this.  Not all appliances consume current at idle.  A refrigerator with a mechanical thermostat, for example, uses no electricity when the compressor is not running.  But almost all electronic devices do use idle current.

  4. The computer versus television question must be determined by the method in the answer above.

A light with a dimmer does use less electricity, because the resistors in the dimmer switch restrict the flow of current.

Your cell phone charger most likely uses an inductive transformer to reduce the voltage and change it from AC to DC.  If your phone is not on the charger, there is no load so the charger does not "use" electricity.
