Do new flat screen tv use less electricity than old tube tv ?

  1. that is a very general question, so a very general answer would be "Yes, they use less power."


  2. Depends on the size. Because most flat screens are very much larger in area to CRTs, they will tend to use more electricity. As technology advances, the amount of power TVs use will reduce.

  3. I'm not sure but always turn off at the tv set and NEVER wiith the remote , you will save £15 to £20 per year.

  4. For the same screen size they use about half but modern screen tend to be much bigger for a 50" TV

    teh power use would be

    LCD: 180 watts

    Plasma: 350 watts

    CRT (old style) 600 watts (based on US 50" TV's
