The standard potential of the Cu2 / Cu electrode is 0.34 V and the standard potential of the cell Ag(s) /AgCl(s) / Cl-(aq) // Cu2 (aq) / Cu(s) is 0.12 V. What is the standard potential of the AgCl/Ag,Cl- electrode

1) 0.46 V

2) 0.24 V

3) -0.22 V

4) -0.46 V

5) 0.22 V

I know that the answer is 0.22 but I don't understand why. Can you please explain the problem?

    = 0.12 = 0.34 - X

    X = 0.34 - 0.12 = 0.22 V
