Element 32inch Flatscreen Sparking

Hello, I just purchased my Boyfriend a flat screen tv. Its an Element 32inch. I conected the Coaxil cable and pluged the tv in and it sparked and completely fried the Coaxil cable. I went to purchase another cable and got an hdmi cable. Plugged the tv in and it keeps tripping the breaker for our second floor home. I got a surge protector but the same thing happens. I dont know what to do PLEASE HELP!!!
