Elements around the house?

Can someone tell me where to find any elements around the house eg. mercury found in a thermometre or magnesium found in those sharpeners.

  1. Iron nails, tungsten in lamp filaments, carbon in charcoal, maybe copper in piping, and almost certainly in the electrical wiring, the zinc in some batteries, aluminium foil in the kitchen. Silver and gold maybe in jewellery. Silicon in the electronics.

    Of course everything in the house is made of elements.  For example, salt contains the elements sodium and chlorine.  But I assume it is just more or less pure single elements that you are after.

  3. Mercury can also be found in the old time home thermostats.  Table salt is another element.  Well water, and city water, is full of elements.  The dirt in your potted plants contains elements.  The list is endless....
