Elena Kwok trounces Michelle Au in first round showdown at Australian Closed Championships Sydney
Elena Kwok, a talented young shuttler from Australia, displayed a strong show of top class badminton in Women’s Singles first round when she gave a severe treatment to her team-mate Michelle Au at the 2012 Australian Closed Championships Sydney on Wednesday, August 29, in Australia.
The impressive Elena was in tremendous form as she played with impressive confidence on court and remained successful in crushing her confused opponent without facing even a slight problem.
The in-form Elena was one-class above her rival as she played with wonderful precision and control in her play and registered a comprehensive victory over Michelle by ending up the match in straight sets in a lopsided fashion.
On the other hand, Michelle found herself in all sorts of trouble as she could not put up strong resistance at any stage throughout the contest and easily bowed down to her in-form opponent without utilising reasonable skills.
Elena was in fabulous form on court as she played fascinating shots with wonderful accuracy and remained in complete control without having any trouble from her opponent.
In the meanwhile, Michelle tried to play positive game but she failed to match the pace of rallies and also could not place her shots in gaps.
The aggressive Elena continued playing positive and planned badminton in opening half and remained successful in building up a spectacular lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Elena showed a little more urgency as she played attacking game without sparing any chance for her rival to fight back and eventually won the opening set with a smashing 21-6 margin on the board.
In the following set, Michelle showed a little improvement in the execution of her shots as she played fast and positive badminton in opening rallies.
However, Elena took over control while taking the bird early at the net and started to dictate the pace of rallies. She constructed a fabulous gap until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Elena did not slow down her speed and maintained pressure on her rival all the way to grab the game with a huge 21-11 score on the board.
The lofty Elena ended up the contest in straight sets with a spectacular difference of 21-6 and 21-11.
