Eleni Daniilidou ousts Misaki Doi in 2nd round – Tashkent Open 2011

The two unseeded players to contest against each other were Greek Eleni Daniilidou and Japanese Misaki Doi on hard courts of Olympic School Tennis Courts. The two duelled for a berth in the quarter final of the Tashkent Open 2011.
After 1 hour and 52 minutes Eleni Daniilidou won in straight sets of 7-6(5), 6-4 during the second round match of the event.
Opening the first set was Eleni and she not only held her serve in the first game but in the second, was the first to break and took a mini lead of 2-0. However, Doi was not going to let Eleni increase the gap and broke back in
the following game and eventually even the score in the fourth game by holding her serve.  The two players again won on alternate serves and levelled the score at 3-3. Breaking back to back in the seventh and eighth game, the score board was tied at 4-4. The
two kept rallying each other in the following two games but ultimately held their serves. During the eleventh and the twelfth game again the two broke each other back-to-back to push the set into a tie breaker.
The back and forth affair of a series of breakpoint came to a halt as the set entered the tiebreaker. Clinching an early break, Daniilidou broke the Japanese to lead the score 4-1. However, Doi, the fierce spirit, would not let
up without a fight. Reeling off three straight points, Doi soon put herself back in the running levelling the score at four points each. An exchange of successful serves from the pair kept the score tied at 5-5. Determined to wrap up the set soon, the powerful
Greek took her performance up a notch as she once more broke Doi to lead 6-5 before serving out the tiebreaker to go one up in the set score.
With a resoluteness to win in straight sets, Eleni was again serving first and the won on alternate serves to round off the score at 1-1. Doi was first to break in the third game and in the fourth held her serve to take a mini
lead. During the fifth game Doi again broke Eleni and secured her lead at 4-1. Although, Eleni had slipped for a few games, she jumped back into the game during the sixth game from two breaks down. Eleni broke doi in the sixth game and also in the eighth game
to equalize the score at 4-4. As the Greek held her serve in the ninth game, she took a lead and was now hoping to break for match point. As Doi served in the tenth game she missed and double faulted, giving Eleni the break she required.
Eleni won the second set and the match to secure a berth in the quarter final where she will be facing home girl Urszula Radwanska.
