Elenika all set to open account in Tom Jones Memorial HTJ Centre Ltd Beginners´ Chase at Huntingdon
Tuesday’s Tom Jones Memorial HTJ Centre Ltd Beginners´ Chase at Huntingdon is all about the clash between Rajdhani Express and Elenika. Both ex-French are relatively unexposed, and look very good to make an impact. The punters need to have a look at the stats of these two before making a decision.
Rajdhani Express is returning to action after a good while. The 5-year-old was last seen at Kempton in January, when he could not complete his run. On his penultimate start at Royal Ascot, the Nicky Henderson-trained was eighth in the field of 16.
Owned by Robert Waley-Cohen, the son of Presenting made his British debut last December. At Sandown, he finished fifth behind Ubi Ace. The brown gelding has not yet done anything special in Great Britain, but this is really a great opportunity for him.
The way he has performed in UK so far, it is quite evident that he really needs to raise his game to do some damage. According to our calculations, he does not deserve blind trust.
On the other hand, Elenika, who is more consistent, has plenty going for him. On his last start in May, the Paul Nicholls-trained was runner-up. Despite not winning a race, he looks an ideal horse to rely on, especially considering his useful chase form. So, he should be preferred over Rajdhani Express.
Including the aforementioned pair, there are six runners in the pack. Over a distance of two miles and 110 yards, they will chase a prize of £5,653. As per the plan, the class 3 meeting will be kicked off at 14:40 GMT.
Boruler is inferior to some of these over hurdles, and we expect him to be no better on debut in this sphere. Gorgehous Lleige went on to show modest hurdle form after tasting success on bumper. Pindar is a Flat/hurdle winner, but looks outclassed on chasing debut. Refusal is likely to come short here.
The punters need to adopt a simple formula; stick only with Rajdhani Express and Elenika. The latter is more consistent and despite not having won a race so far, deserves the preference. Good luck to both of them.
