Elephant nose fish?

i got him three days ago and he i swimming a lot and i don't think thats usual, i had one before and he hid the first couple weeks. is this usual for it swim a lot, is it stressed maybe

  1. he must not feel threatend by any other fish an thats wy hes swimming around


  2. If there not with other elephant nose fish they might die, because i had one and about 8 hours later he died. The store manager said that was why.

    And for yours, it is probably just checking its surroundings, because they are blind so they have to swim alot to get smell of stuff.

You are correct, John-- these are NOT schooling fish, and will actually damage each other if kept together (unless you have an unreasonably large tank).  It is likely just stressed from the move and attempting to find a hiding place or adjust to the new surroundings.  Keep the lights out or dimmed for a while and it should calm down.
