Question:

Elephants??

can some one explain why is the size and ear of the african and asian elephant different....does it have soething to do with its habitat.

In the middle of the day, when the body temperature of an elephant rises, its heart pumps blood into its ears before circulating it to other parts of the body. You must have seen elephant flapping their ears, and you may know that the veins on an elephant's ears are very close to the surface of the skin. When they flap their ears, the rush of air cools the blood down.

  3. Elephants use their ears as a means of dissipating heat from their bodies. Because African elephants live in a hotter environment, they have a greater requirement for this and thus have larger ears. They are also more wrinkled than Asian elephants, which increases surface area to facilitate heat loss.
