Eleven year old feels like she can not breathe?

Hi, I'm on my mom's account. The sides of my ribcages hurt and I feel like I can't breathe. Any suggestions on ways to make me feel less wheezy and breathless. I'm at my grandparet's house and they are asleep. I'm in my room on the laptop. Please help. I feel scared.

  1. slow down,you sound like your having a panic attack,prop yourself up with a pillow behind you, breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth,try to relax,If you don't get better by morning maybe you need to see a doctor


  2. Sweety, Chances are it is nothing serious at all. Probably you are panicking which is making it harder to breathe but Do wake up your grandparents. Unless they are a$$holes who don't love you ( i imagine they arn't)  they would want to know. YOur going to be fine sweety, go wake them up. It sounds like it could be a minor asthma attack but that is not really serious at all and even if something is wrong you can get medicine to make it better. I do know that if you are well enough to type this that you will live.

  4. You can contract asthma at your age. It may be an attack. If a family member has asthma, and you know you are wheezing, ask for their albuterol. If you aren't sure if you are wheezing, go to the E.R. and they can check you out.

    If you are anxious or panicky, then you need to try to stop thinking and empty your mind. Take deep breaths in and out and calm down. Do not think about the breathing, it may make it worse. If you can not have an empty mind, try to think of good things. Unless you can not get it under control, try not to go to the E.R. for a panic attack. They do not help much there. But if this is the problem, schedule an appointment with your general practicioner as soon as you can.

  5. Wake them up and tell them. Their might be something seriously wrong. Go to a doctor in the morning immediatly.

  7. I'm glad you woke them up... your health is important and i'm sure no one would get upset or angry with you for waking them up because you're scared and sick.

    Sometimes anxiety will cause this... are you stressed over anything?  Has this happened before?

    If so, see a doctor... and take care.  i'm sending all best wishes and hugs.

  8. =/ uh oh girl that doesnt sound good. if youre worried, honestly just wake your grandparents up. trust me, they wouldnt be mad. they'd be more upset if something bad happened to you that they couldve prevented if you wouldve woken them up. just go to them and ask for help, please

    EDIT- just wake them up!!!! seriously i'm telling you, if it hurts that bad, and if youre really scared THEY WONT BE UPSET. i promise! if theyre youre grandparents and they love you, youre health is their first priority and they wont mind getting woken up if you really need there help. just trust me on this!

  9. yeah hon, I agree-you need to wake them up, so your temp. can be checked...I assume you have no asthma? Did you fall, and hurt, bruise your ribs lately-that can make you "feel" out of breath. But, I'm not there-and I'm not a dr., or nurse-my son used to get croup alot, which makes you feel like that-wake someone up!!Pleas try and relax tho-being scared, nervous makes it you feel more out of breath from maybe hyperventilating(I've been there) Good luck...

  11. When i was ur age i use to get those two its like the wind knocks you out dont worry its nothing. Eat food one time i fainted and couldnt breathe but i went to the hospital and i found out i have a infection. But dont be afraid its nothing just eat and get rest.
