Eli Manning happy about Peyton Manning’s prospects of joining New York Jets – NFL News Update
The speculations regarding Indianapolis Colts quarterback, Peyton Manning, cutting ties with the franchise and joining New York Jets were taken to the new heights on Monday, January 16, 2012, when Peyton’s brother, Eli Manning, who is a quarterback for New York Giants, said that it would be fun if his brother came to New York.
However, Eli stayed on the safe side and informed that he was not aware if Peyton would join the Jets. He also said that he did not know about the authenticity of these rumours.
The whole point of Eli’s conversations revolved around the fun-factor he would feel if both the brothers stayed close to each other and played for the same city.
"I don't know what's going to happen in that situation. So, would it be fun? Yeah, I think it would be interesting to have your brother in the same city playing football together. I don't think we would see each other that often, just 'cause I don't think our schedules would be a whole lot different, probably just talk on the phone more than see each other during the season, but, you know, it would be interesting,” Eli remarked.
Eli even thought about ‘going to work with his brother’, ‘having dinner together’, ‘share some notes on opponents’ and plenty of other possibilities.
Peyton is a star player for the Colts. He joined the franchise in 1998 and continued to serve as a regular starter without missing a game for 13 years.
The Colts have constantly been reaching the playoffs of the National Football League (NFL) since the year 2002. They won the Super Bowl in 2006 and were the American Football Conference (AFC) champions in 2009.
However, the present season was a nightmare for them.
They not only failed to register an appearance in the postseason, but also lost 14 games and ended up at the bottom of the AFC South division ranking table.
Owing to an injury, Peyton did not play any game this season. The team’s loss is attributed to his absence.
The poor performance in the season has given the Colts a number one overall pick in the upcoming NFL Drafts.
Stanford University’s quarterback, Andrew Luck, is expected to be the top prospect for the drafts.
The Colts have not announced that they would select Luck, but if they have not denied it as well.
The main cause of concern surrounding Peyton and his game-play is his injury, which is still preventing him from stepping on the field.
If the injury persists, then he will have to sit out for the next season and hence will not be of any service to either the Colts or the Jets. However, his experience can be utilised in grooming Andrew Luck should the Colts acquire him and Peyton also stays.
