Eli backs his brother Peyton Manning for playing again for Indianapolis Colts – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, Peyton Manning’s younger brother, Eli Manning, while living upto the tradition of his family of supporting their member at the time of need, has backed his elder brother for playing for Colts after he returns from his neck
injury sometime next (2012) football season.
This is for the second time that Eli, who himself is a quarterback at the New York Giants, has gone public about highlighting the need of his brother playing football for his team, instead of moving elsewhere, and a majority of commentators believe his stance
is to much liking of the Indianapolis.
Peyton Manning had earlier expressed some similar feelings about the Indianapolis Colts fans and his liking of the city, which he said was the main motivating factor for him to consider staying at Colts when he comes out of the recovery from his neck surgery.
“Peyton’s going to do everything he can to get back healthy,” Eli said. “He wants to continue to play football, and I think that’s the No. 1 priority right now, get him well, get him back at the level he was playing football. That’s the goal, and if he can
do that, everything else will work itself out.”
He added:
“I’d love to see him back playing football again next year in Indianapolis, and hopefully, that’s the case. Obviously, there are a lot of things that will get worked out, but the No. 1 thing, the No. 1 importance to him right now is getting back to 100 percent.”
Eli in his remarks during the course of regular season had backed his brother’s comeback in the later part of the season.
He had said that Peyton was working very hard on his recovery and there had been a possibility that his injury allowed him to rejoin his squad at some point late in the season.
Eli’s latest comments in support of his brother come a couple of days after their father, Archie Manning, have expressed similar hopes about the return of his elder son.
Archie apparently was attempting to clarify the position of his son, Peyton, who had been attacked by his employer, Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, over going public about the issue of his recovery from his neck surgery and his chances of playing for Colts in the
future.
Peyton’s father said that his son was obviously disappointed over the departure of a number of Colts officials, who he had work with in the past, leaving the team’s headquarters as a result of Irsay’s sweeping cleansing drive.
Interestingly, Peyton Manning, besides his family has many more supporters, who have shown their sympathies to him and spoke in his favour, respectively; none of them have so far been able convince his employer to come out with his final strategy on the
future of the player.
