Marseille tasted their fourth defeat of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign and the result has pushed them down to third in the league with 26 points on the table. However, it was the nature of the defeat that has left Elie Baup is such a foul mood.
While talking to reporters, the Frenchman said that it was a night to forget and he is really disappointed at the way his players performed on the pitch. Marseille were far from the best and were punished for that in the end, and the defeat is really hard
to digest for the coach.
"As a whole, the defeat is really hard to take.”
Talking about the match, Elie Baup said that it all went wrong for his side from the very first whistle. The penalty by Bafetimbi Gomis put Marseille on back foot and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rod-Fanni-c31402’s sending off made it even worse.
“That penalty (by Bafetimbi Gomis) at the beginning of the match and then the red card for Rod Fanni at the end summed up a bad result for us. It is a really nasty night to experience," he said.
Questioning some of the decisions made by the referee, the former Nantes coach said that the level of referring wasn’t of good standards and it made life even harder for his side on the pitch. Marseille have performed well in their previous games and this
result is disappointing in many ways for the boss.
"We won't forget our performances in the 13 previous games. Again, it's a nasty night, we did not play well and some decisions made by the referee were questionable.”
Elie Baup has urged his players to forget about the defeat and move on quickly and focus on the upcoming games in the Ligue 1 and the Europa League.
“But now what I want is to focus on the next game - we need to move on quickly.”
