The 57-year-old believes that a united dressing room is the main reason behind his side’s perfect start to the campaign
Olympique de Marseille have won all four of their games in the Ligue 1 this season, and have also reached the group stages of the Europa league after overcoming two tricky ties.
And Les Phoceens’ coach, Elie Baup feels that the secret to their success this season is the unity among his players.
While talking to ligue1.com, the former Toulouse coach stated that for a team to be successful, unity in the dressing room is very important, and OM are lucky to have that.
“In my eyes, the most important thing is that the dressing room is a happy place," the coach told Ligue1.com.
Elie Baup added that players feel comfortable around each other and they are very professional in their behaviour.
"There’s a good atmosphere right now, the players enjoy being together and they are also serious and professional when they have to be.”
The 57-year-old said that when players enjoy their game, positive results are guaranteed. The coach wants to build on their fine run of form and believes that the dressing room unity is the key to that.
The former Saint-Etienne coach, who was appointed the coach of Olympique de Marseille in the summer following the resignation of Didier Deschamps, is optimistic about his side’s chances this season.
The coach said that if players care for one another and play to their potential, Marseille have a chance to achieve something big this season.
“If the dressing room is happy there is every chance the results will follow. We have to try to keep this togetherness and make sure the players are happy and want to keep on working hard for one another,” the 57-year-old added.
Praising his players, Elie Baup stated that the Rhone giants have a quality squad and players want to win something this season, after enduring a miserable season last time around.
“We have the quality here… the important thing is that the players want to do well.”
